Autoclaved Aerated Concrete is abbreviated as AAC. It is also called as Autoclaved Cellular Concrete or ACC. Other than this, it is also termed as Autoclaved Lightweight Concrete or ALC. It is basically a building material which is of lightweight and has amazing thermal insulation properties. It is used to provide insulation, structure, fire resistance and mold resistance. Various products that are made up of AAC include floor panels, roof panels, lintels, wall panels, blocks, cladding panels and other structural elements. Due to its thermal insulation property, it keeps the room cold during summer and warm during winter. Since it stores heat, it protects the room from the hot summer.
Walls and roofs that are made up of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete provide comparatively better insulation than other conventional materials. This prevents noise from outside to enter the house such as noise from traffic, airplane etc. Other than this, it also provides great protection from fire. It is non-flammable and thus walls built with AAC do not need any other kind of fire precautions. Due to AAC, the wall becomes fireproof for minimum 90 minutes and acts like a shield against heat. AAC Walls that are thicker can even provide fire resistance for over 180 minutes. For this reason, AAC is used in the construction of commercial and residential properties.
Companies in the United Arab Emirates are the leaders in manufacturing and supplying a wide range of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete blocks which are used in the construction industry. They are durable and eco-friendly, providing an effective alternate option to traditional walls and other construction materials. The blocks built with AAC have quality which is unmatchable and also, they are weather proof. AAC has excellent strength and exceptional standards for building purposes. The best thing about AAC is that it is comprised of raw materials such as limestone, water and sand which are natural resources and are available in unlimited quantities. Production of AAC is done with the minimum consumption of energy and does not involve emitting wastes, which makes it an eco-friendly construction material.
There are many other benefits of using AAC products. One advantage is that it is very easy and quick to install the products that are made up of AAC. Panels and walls made from AAC can be installed quickly than the traditional walls and panels. Other than this, the benefit of using AAC is that it cannot be penetrated by insects. All kinds of buildings are attacked by termites every year which causes loss of millions of dollars but those built with AAC do not involve the risk of being attacked by the termites. This saves thousands of dollars invested in controlling termites and repairing the costs. AAC is sustainable and more strong than wood. It is also simple and easy to cut the AAC products and craft them as per the needs using common hand tools. In addition to this, since it is easy to cut them, it reduces the time involved in construction.
Since AAC is light weight, it becomes easy to handle it. It weighs one fifth the weight of other concrete products. Labor costs and time utilized in construction using AAC products are reduced to a much larger extent. It is also termed as green building material since it requires lesser energy for its production. For construction projects such as apartments, public buildings, hotels and others, AAC is an ideal construction material as it provides great sound insulation. Its structure is porous and consists of 60 to 70 percent air which efficiently reduces sound wave transmission. Other than this, it is also resistant to moisture and weather when it is coated with the final surface of paint, stucco, cladding, plaster and others.
