Bolts and Nuts (PTFE Coating)

Choosing to use bolts and nuts with a PTFE coating over uncoated ones can be very beneficial in a wide range of applications. The coating is extremely useful in processes that involve extreme conditions, as the parts can remain stable in very high or low temperatures which might otherwise damage them, if they were used uncoated. Also PTFE coated surfaces are proved to reduce friction, making parts coated with this material ideal for shafts, bearing mechanisms, moving mechanisms and fasteners. For an even higher abrasion resistance, the coating can be reinforced with added fillers or a metal sprayed layer can be applied before it. PTFE protects the components from rust and chemical damage, prolonging their life.

Companies specialized in producing pre-coated fasteners in Dubai provide all types of bolts and nuts with PTFE coating, in different sizes, depending on the requirements of the client. The products are usually sold in larger quantities, mostly to large firms or to fastener distributors, who then sell them to specialists from smaller companies who provide services in the sector.

If you are thinking why it is better to choose parts with this type of coating instead of uncoated, hot dip galvanized, cadmium plated or zinc plated ones, there are some relevant reasons for it. Firstly, the process of cleaning and painting bare steel parts is more difficult and expensive and in some situations, not even feasible. Secondly, the bolts and nuts are usually exposed to different weather conditions, in the UAE for example, having to withstand the effects of humidity and high temperatures, and if they are not protected by a coating, they will most likely become dried out and rusty due to the climate characteristics in the region, making it impossible to tighten more, adjust them if needed or release them properly afterwards. Last but not least, high quality coatings are created to be durable and there is a lower chance that the top coat will be mistakenly removed or damaged during the fasteners assembling process. The metallic undercoat applied under the PTFE top coat ensures even higher corrosion resistance and protection under extreme conditions. Choosing parts that work well in different conditions and are not easily damaged in time can assure a correct functioning of the entire mechanism and imply lower costs and less time spent in maintaining the system functioning properly, as there is no need for replacing them as often as with other types.
